OSKALOOSA —
The William Penn women’s soccer team battled a tough league foe and fiercely cold conditions in a 6-0 loss to St. Ambrose in Midwest Collegiate Conference action Saturday.
On an evening where the temperatures dipped into the low 40s, the Lady Statesmen (1-12, 0-4 MCC) gave up an early goal and unfortunately the hits kept coming. By the time the first half concluded, the Queen Bees (7-5, 2-1 MCC) had tallied six goals. St. Ambrose shared the MCC regular season crown and won the tournament title last season.
Laura Gentry headlined a trio of goalkeepers, recording seven saves between the pipes. She was a major reason St. Ambrose was kept off the board after intermission.
William Penn stays at home Wednesday to host Iowa Wesleyan in non-conference action at 5 p.m.
