By DENIS CURRIER — Friday night kicked off the start of the High School class at Eddyville Raceway Park.
In the final was Michael Mahaffey going against Kayla Williams from Oskaloosa. Mahaffey had a almost 1.5 second wait as Williams left the line first but the race was already over as Williams left too soon tripping the red-light and giving Mahaffey his first win of the season.
Mackenzie Dorsett kept up her domination as she once again made it to the finals of both the Pure Street and Sportsman class.
In the Pure Street class, Dorsett went against Tony Mahaffey. The race was over at the starting line as Mahaffey tripped the red light by just .0025, giving Dorsett her first win of the night.
Sportsman saw Dorsett going against Kole Vogel. Dorsett with the slower vehicle left the line first with Vogel having over 1.5 second wait, but couldn’t do it and left too soon tripping the red light and giving Dorsett her second win of the night and also claiming the National Dragster Challenge Wally.
The Bacon family from Fort Dodge was busy as all three racers made it to the finals. In the Jr. Dragster Consi class, it was brother vs sister as Chad faced off against Chelsea. Chad had the better reaction time and ran closer to his dial-in to claim the win and bragging rights for the week.
Dad Mark was in the finals fo the Top Sportsman class going against Artie Craver from Montezuma. Craver had a slightly better reaction time and ran closer to his dial-in to claim the win as Mark broke-out trying to hold him off.
Craver had to race against the Top Dragster winner Dennis Livingston for the overall championship. Both drivers had great reaction time and ran on their dial-in, but Livingston with a better light just was able to claim the win.
Super Pro had Josh Kanselaar going against John Day. Again, another close race, but Kanselaar broke out by just .0029 giving the win to Day and claiming the Wally.
