OSKALOOSA —
William Penn baseball coach Mike Laird announced the signing of Kyle Kutzler to a National Letter of Intent to compete for the baseball program.
Kyle, the son of Jerry and Penny Kutzler, is a native of Kenosha, Wis., and will graduate from Kenosha Tremper High School this spring.
Kutzler is a strong multi-sport athlete, earning four letters on the diamond as well as three more in football. He is a scholar as well, being named to the Honor Roll all four years of high school.
Kyle will be a second-generation Statesmen. His father Jerry was a two-time second-team All-American in 1986 and 1987. He was drafted in the fifth round by the Chicago White Sox after his time at William Penn. Kyle’s mother Penny (Helmick) was also a member of four women’s basketball conference championship teams while at William Penn.
Kutzler plans to major in industrial technology.
“I chose William Penn because it was a good fit for me,” Kutzler said. “The school has a good baseball tradition, and has the major I am interested in. I like the location of the school, and Coach Laird is someone I can see myself playing for. William Penn is also a special place for my family since both of my parents graduated from there.”
“I am extremely happy to have Kyle coming to William Penn,” Laird said. “Obviously he has great bloodlines with Jerry and Penny as parents, but he also possesses the highest character qualities which make him an outstanding recruit for us.”
William Penn is currently 10-8 this year.
