EDDYVILLE —
Races started off Friday night with the final race of the High School class.
In the final was Ashley Wickett going against Dalton Dorsett. At the finish line, Wickett broke out, but the race was already over as Dorsett left too soon, tripping the redlight and giving the win to Wickett.
Although Dorsett got the runner-up spot, he did claim the overall High School Track Championship.
Saturday was the rescheduled Rick Reese Memorial Race.
In the Jr. Dragster class, Kaila Wheeldon went against Chase VanSant. Both drivers had close reaction time and at the finish line, Wheeldon ran closer to her dial-in and claimed the win. Wheeldon went on to face Wayne Briggs III in the run-off and claimed the win with the better reaction time.
Pro class had Wayne Briggs Sr. going agaisnt Tim Sparks. Briggs Sr. ran right on his dial-in and Sparks went too fast, breaking out giving Griggs Sr. the win.
Sportsman saw Mackenzie Dorsett going against Pam Vogel. Vogel had just over a 2.5 second wait before she could go chasing down Dorsett. At the finish line, Vogel went too fast and brokeout and Dorsett claimed the win and, for the second year in a row, won the Rick Reese Memorial Race.
Bruce Williamson faced off against Stan Livingston in the Super Pro class. The race was over on the starting line as Livingston went red and gave the win to Williamson.
This weekend will have three days of racing as the Worlds Fuel Altered is held at Eddyville. Friday will have test-n-tune plus the first round of qualifying for the Fuel Altered at 8 p.m. Saturday will be a early start with time trials starting at 9:30 a.m. with two time trials with elimianations to follow. The Fuel Altereds will qualify at 3 p.m. with first round of eliminations being at 6 p.m.
Sunday will be a rain date for the Fuel Altereds and regular bracket racing with time trials starting at 9 a.m. Discounted tickets for this event can be purchased at all O’Reilly Auto Parts stores.
